About Absolute First Aid

We believe everyone should have basic life-saving skills

You never know when you’ll be with someone who needs first aid.

As a social enterprise, we aim to make first aid training accessible in Cornwall for schools, communities, social enterprises, and people who would otherwise be unable to participate in training. This could mean adjusting standard practises for a group of people who feel socially anxious; running affordable programmes for teaching staff and communities; or providing training in your own environment.
"I’ve been training first aid for 21 years. In that time I’ve used life-saving first aid on my own family three times! But working as a Nurse in the Emergency Department, I’ve seen so many occasions when people didn’t receive the first aid they needed, and it seriously impacts on someone’s chances of survival."
- Jason, First Aid Trainer

Qualsafe Awards Registered Centre - Absolute First Aid

About Absolute First Aid

Absolute First Aid is a Qualsafe Awards approved first aid training centre based in Redruth. We provide First Aid at Work; Paediatric First Aid; Activity First Aid; CPR and AED qualifications for schools, social enterprises, small businesses and activity centres across mid and west Cornwall. Your First Aid Training will be delivered by an experienced Registered Nurse who is still working within emergency and urgent care settings.

We are Qualsafe registered

Qualsafe Awards is one of the largest awarding organisations in the UK, and the largest awarding organisation for first aid courses. It is recognised by Ofqual, so all our courses have been approved to a high standard. Qualsafe requires its centres to have strong quality assurance systems in place. To this affect, Absolute First Aid uses another provider to carry out its internal quality assurance, so there is total transparency in our centre.

About Jason

Jason has been trained in first aid since the age of 10. He was so eager to do his St John Ambulance Three Cross Award at primary school that, despite officially being too young to do it, his teachers allowed him to take the course a year early. Jason soon joined St John Ambulance as a Cadet and began teaching first aid to other youngsters at 14 years old.

After qualifying as a Nurse in 2007, Jason completed a City & Guilds 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification and then attained a BSc (Hons) in Emergency Care whilst working as a Nurse in an Emergency Department.

With 10 years experience nursing, 7 of which have been in emergency and urgent care settings full time, and with 25 years of volunteer experience as a First Aider, Nurse and Ambulance Crew, Jason is exceptionally experienced in providing first aid, as well as teaching it. He has many interesting stories to share on his courses to illustrate the application of first aid (and save you from death by powerpoint!)
